Loneliness in one of our nations biggest health crisis of our current time. We all need people in our lives, and that is why we are here. We are building community that connects people with people. We have so many stories of people who come and have been alone for so long, and stop by for food or other assistance and not only find help, but also friendship and support that give them hope and encouragement to keep going.
Our Story
Lighthouse Community Ministries started out as a dream to be a beacon to our neighborhood and to offer a sort of third space people could come and experience community. A place that isn’t a home or a business, a place where they didn’t feel any pressure to purchase anything or feel like they were intruding on someone. We started out by opening our doors everyday from 9:00-1:00 calling it Coffee Spot. From there we have continued to grow and we wanted to offer more to this awesome city, so we decided to turn our church building into a community center during the week.
With the help of One Wyoming and Metro Health we were able to launch our community center in October of 2017. Since then we have grown to be able to offer classes, activities, and meals to the community almost every day of the week,
As of March 2019 Metro Health and One Wyoming were no longer able to fund us financially, so we ventured out on our own, creating Lighthouse Community Ministries!
